[Flashback news] YG Entertainment boss Yang Hyun Suk talks about Se7en’s struggles in America

YG Entertainment’s CEO Yang Hyun Suk talked about YG artist Se7en’s struggle in America in an interview.

Se7en crossed overseas to make it in America in the past few years. He was never able to make it big and he came back to release a new album in Korea.

Yang Hyun Suk said, “I will not deny that Se7en struggled in America. But the American market had a wall that was too high and we tried without knowing this. We haven’t decided on whether it succeeded or failed. If there is another chance, we hope to try again even if the chances of failure are high.”

He continued, “The confidence of the company that promoted him disappeared as the contract ended so he came back but he learned a lot in the three years he was in America. We are trying to set him up with other great promoters.”

Regarding the Wonder Girls and BoA, other Korean artists trying to make it in America, he said, “I honestly hope they succeed.”

It really is a shame that Se7en faced such a challenge.
