"WARRIORS DANCE" - THE PRODIGY'S NEW SINGLE FROM "INVADERS MUST DIE" ALBUM

“The Prodigy’s fifth studio album sounds just like The Prodigy should. Only leaner, harder, and even faster than before.” Q ****, April 2009

“It’s hard to imagine many better records being release this year.” London Lite, 5/5, 16th February 2009.

Back at the top of their game with the release of their 5th album "Invaders Must Die’" (which went straight in at No. 1 and is already one of the best selling album this year), The Prodigy get ready to release the all out monster "Warriors Dance".

One of the many highlights of the album, "Warriors Dance" is old skool Prodigy – a grizzly mix of 91’ hardcore warehouse rave and ecstatic diva vocals only catapulted confidently into the modern age. The perfect reminder that yes, there have been a fair few pretenders attempting to emulate them in recent years, but quite simply … no one does or could ever sound like The Prodigy.

EL CHIKI CHIKI - THIS SUMMER'S HOTTEST DANCE HIT!

Get ready for another awesome dance hit this summer as Universal Records unleashes its newest dance compilation “El Chiki Chiki and Other Dance Hits”! This infectious reggaeton smash went to the Number One spot in Spain and Greece and was Top 20 in Sweden and France! The compilation “El Chiki Chiki and Other Dance Hits” also includes certified dance hits like “Chichiquita”, “If I Had A Hammer”, “So Sexy” plus new tracks like “Apologize (Dance Mix)”, “Watch Out” and hip hop sensation Pitbull’s latest clubjammer “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)”!

SILENT SANCTUARY RELEASES NEW CD "MISTAKEN FOR GRANTED"

Silent Sanctuary has always been known for two things - releasing hit songs (remember “Ikaw Lamang”, “Ingat Ka”, “Kundiman”, and “Rebound”) and being unique for having a violinist and a cellist. Now, not only has the band released a new album that’s sure to contain more hits, they’ve also beefed up their string arrangements with help from Eraserheads' Buddy Zabala.

Composed of Sarkie Sarangay on vocals and guitars, Allen Calixto on drums, Chino David on violin, Anjo Inacay on cello, and latest addition Jason Rondero on bass, Silent Sanctuary has released their new CD called “Mistaken For Granted”. Made up of 11 songs, including their first single “Hay Naku”, the very catchy “Pauwi Na Ako” and the heartbreaking “Hiling”, the album is called so because “We’ve grown past "Fuchsiang Pag-Ibig". This album is our way of saying na we’re not all cute love songs,” Chino says.

Silent Sanctuary are one of the few local acts to have amassed quite a few achievements in a short span of time. They bagged an NU Rock Award as 'In the Raw' awardees (for being the best unsigned band of 2006), contributed songs to "Kami nAPO Muna Ulit" (Tuyo Na'ng Damdamin), "Super Inggo" fantasereye (Ikaw Lamang) and "Sana Maulit Muli" teleseye (Maalala Mo Sana) plus their single “Rebound” was played October 2006 and ended up in no. 16 of NU 107’s 107 best song of the year 2006 surpassing other songs that played later on the play list.

PARALUMAN & KEAN CIPRIANO OF CALLALILY COLLABORATE ON "TABI"

Paraluman might be newcomers to the band scene, but they've already achieved a lot in a short span of time. Their first two singles - "Emily" and "Teka" enjoyed heavy rotation on FM stations and music channels. They also won the 'Favorite Indie Band' in the recent 2009 MYX Awards. Now, they release their latest single "Tabi" taken from their debut CD "In Lab!". The album contains two versions of "Tabi" - the band version and another version featuring collaboration with Kean Cipriano of Callalily.

"THE BEST OF JIM CHAPPELL" CD OUT NOW!

Billboard Magazine states: “Chappell’s piano melodies are timeless, moving… captivating…”

Since the release of his breakthrough solo piano collection "Tender Ritual" in 1985, Jim has been acknowledged as one of contemporary music’s most engaging composers and performers. With 14 albums to his credit, Chappell has toured worldwide to sold out audiences, his concerts being filmed and nationally televised. Several of Jim’s albums have received heavy national and international airplay on Smooth Jazz format radio stations, with Chappell’s "Over The Top" making it to No. 1 on the national charts in 1993.

His music has been used on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Several Barbara Walters’ Specials, The Summer and Winter Olympic Games, MTV, One Life To Live, and the Drew Carey Show. Gold medal figure skater Brian Boitano skated to Jim’s beautiful piece "Gone" in a nationally televised Thanksgiving Day broadcast presentation. Chappell was the only music artist to perform at Robert DeNiro’s 50th birthday party, where he played solo piano to a hushed and enthusiastic audience of who’s who in the film industry.

Universal Records is proud to announce the Philippines-only CD release of "The Best Of Jim Chappell". The 13 track album includes some of Chappell's most memorable melodies taken from his vast collection of piano compositions. LITTLE NAME - How To Swim And Live
Little Name is an amazing discovery! A dose of deft British indie pop that recalls the heyday of Sarah Records with influences of Belle and Sebastian, The Beach Boys, The Smiths, Camera Obscura, Burt Bacharach, some sunshine, some rain, life itself and the art of swimming. Behind Little Name stands Lee Barker from Liverpool, who sings and plays all the instruments. Underneath the bright indie pop are lyrics which explore ideas of openness and vulnerability, isolation and joy with a wit and humour belying their meaning. Featuring "For the Attention Of", "How To Swim and Live" and "Tracy and I" plus one Philippines-only bonus track!

LUCKY SOUL - The Great Unwanted
Greenwich six-piece Lucky Soul make catchy, sophisticated and nostalgic pop songs influenced by Phil Spector, Dusty Springfield, Stax, The Ronettes, Brian Wilson, The Chiffons, Motown and Petula Clark, with touches of Saint Etienne and Discolation Dance. At the center of their full-bodied, 1960s-referencing soundwhich are Ali Howard's sophisticated-pussycat vocals which brings to mind Sandie Shaw, Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval, The Ronettes' Veronica Bennett, The Cardigans' Nina Persson and The Concretes' Victoria Bergsman. Produced by George Schilling (The Wannadies, Soup Dragons, Blur, My Bloody Valentine, Teenage Fanclub, Primal Scream), their debut album "The Great Unwanted" includes the singles "My Brittle Heart", "Lips Are Unhappy", "Add Your Light To Mine Baby", "One Kiss Don't Make A Summer" and "Ain't Never Been Cool".

MY TEENAGE STRIDE - Ears Like Golden Bats

Third album (and possibly their best) by Brooklyn-based My Teenage Stride, "Ears Like Golden Bats", is a stylish, romantic, wry collection of sensitive-pop classics. Echoes of John Cale's solo work, mid-'60s Kinks, Phil Spector, The Chills, Guided By Voices, Brian Eno, Morrissey, The Jesus And Mary Chain and '80s synth-pop can be found in this diversely addictive album. Featuring "To Live and Die in the Airport Lounge" and "That Should Stand for Something".

STARS - In Our Bedroom After The War

"In Our Bedroom After the War", the name of Montreal indie pop band Stars' fourth, newest and without question, best album, is mysterious, grand, and multi-faceted. There's something of an epic quality to Stars' music here, with a blending of electronics, conventional rock band dynamics and a liberal helping of more orchestral elements. They have cited a wide variety of influences like Prefab Sprout, New Order, The Smiths, Brian Wilson, Momus and Broken Social Scene. Mixed by Joe Chiccarelli (Morrissey, The Shins). The album includes "Take Me To The Riot" and "The Night Starts Here".

THE LONG BLONDES - Singles
The Long Blondes were one of a number of smart, punky, and fashionable bands to emerge from the U.K. in the early 2000s. Their songs reflect a number of influences including Nancy Sinatra, Dusty Springfield, Buzzcocks, Ramones, '60s pop, post-punk and new wave. "Singles" is a compilation album featuring the Sheffield band's four pre-Rough Trade singles, all highly sought after limited seven inch vinyl pressings available here for the first time on CD. This album also features two bonus tracks, and captures the energy and excitement of The Long Blondes at their best. The CD features a brand new painting by singer Kate Jackson especially for this release, and a poster sleeve designed by The PIX magazine features rare early pictures, interviews and sleeve notes by the band.

THE WHIP - X Marks Destination
"X Marks Destination" is the debut album from Mancunian baggy electro act The Whip. A diverse debut that recalls the electro flourishes of New Order with the slightly-frazzled indie funk of Happy Mondays, this is quite simply a stunning record. Produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Ladytron, Kasabian, Editors), the album includes the singles "Trash", "Sister Siam" and "Divebomb".

CLASS OF 2009

THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART
New York four-piece The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are fast becoming the most name-dropped band in underground circles on both sides of the Atlantic. SoundsXP describes their music as “Sunshiney C86 pop with jangly guitars and a slightly fuzzy underbelly, coming across like early My Bloody Valentine meeting The Smiths.” Their distinctive brand of noisy pop is a tidy distillation of all the great noise-pop precedents - early My Bloody Valetine, House Of Love, Pale Saints, Rocketship - but with that incredible exuberance and energy that the Pains bring to every song. Their self-titled debut album is an instant classic, drawing the sparkling legacy of the best of '80s and '90s pop. Featuring "Everything With You", "This Love Is Fucking Right", "Come Saturday", "A Teenager In Love" and more.

BRICOLAGE
Having been endorsed by Franz Ferdinand and similarly sharing the same love of early Postcard singles, the Scottish four-piece Bricolage produce chiming indie pop steeped in that late '80s sound that is so popular at the moment. They tap into the rich musical tradition of Glasgow, drawing on the Postcard sounds of Orange Juice and Josef K but with a contemporary edge, mixing indie pop with classic dance touches to infectious effect. Their eponymous album is produced by former Altered Images mainstay Stephen Lironi and features 12 songs that recall the Sound of Young Scotland. Includes "Footsteps", "Looting Takes the Waiting Out of Wanting", "The Waltzers" and "Turn U Over".

CRYSTAL STILTS
"Alight of Night" is the debut album by Brooklyn's Crystal Stilts. There has been a huge amount of buzz about Crystal Stilts lately, and it is well-deserved. A remarkably graceful collision of such disparate references as The Velvet Underground, Red Crayola, Joy Division, The Pin Group and early Jesus & Mary Chain, Crystal Stilts' spectral avant-garage is both classic and totally new. Its post-punk minimalism that brings to mind early Rough Trade and Factory releases - dark and melodic, deep and yet somehow still "pop" at the same time. "Alight of Night" is a brilliant album full of mystery, fuzz, croon, twang, throb and oh those tunes. Featuring "Departure" and "Prismatic Room".

THE PRODIGY'S NEW CD "INVADERS MUST DIE" DEBUTS AT #1 IN THE U.K.!!

The Prodigy shot straight to NUMBER ONE in the U.K. album charts with their new studio album "Invaders Must Die".

The success bring the group's tally of top album hits to five, a notable achievement for a band which emerged from early nineties rave culture, a movement few expected to spawn long-lasting success.

"Invaders Must Die" is also one of the fastest-selling albums this year, clocking up almost 100,000 sales in its first week.

The Prodigy made their first assault on the charts in 1991 with the single "Charly".

Their debut album "Music For The Jilted Generation" made its debut at number one in 1994. But it was their third album "Fat of the Land", featuring the number one single "Firestarter", which garnered world-wide attention.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS OF PERFORMING ARTS (WCOPA) REPORTS ON JED MADELA'S NEW CD

Universal Records in the Philippines has spared no expense nor creativity with 2005 Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World JED MADELA's fifth album "Songs Rediscovered 2 - The Ultimate OPM Playlist". "OPM" means Original Philippine Music. Songs Rediscovered 2 (SR2) is predicted to surpass SR1 which went double platinum! The CD album packaging is not your usual square, hard plastic case. Rather, it's a hard bound rectangular book with lots of photos of Jed along with the CD. It's a very special album as Jed revived some very popular songs from the past which were created by Filipino composers and all are in English. With the announcement of the album initially on You Tube and other forms of media, people were lined up at music stores before the album hit the shelves.
