Phil. Star | Kris & the soundtrack of her life

FUNFARE by Ricky F. Lo
Updated April 07, 2011 12:00 am

If she were a song, Kris Aquino said that she would be country music. “I love the passion on the lyrics and the emotions of the singers,” Kris told Funfare in an exclusive interview. “I love Lady Antebellum & Rascal Flatts.”

Kris is not a singer (not in the sense that she could sing to save her soul) but she can carry a tune. She proved this to the movie press at the presscon the other day at Annabel’s (Tomas Morato, Quezon City) for the launch of her fifth full-length studio album called My Heart’s Journey by singing Changes In My Life along with Jed Madela who came in support of Kris together with Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gail Blanco and Christian Bautista who, like Jed, are among the artists on the album.

Besides Changes In My Life, Jed has three more songs on the album, including Only Love, To Where You Are and Healing; while Zsa Zsa has one, I’d Really Love To See You Tonight (which she sang at the presscon), Gail has two (In Your Eyes and I Will Be Here, the latter she sang at the presscon) and Christian has two (the bonus track Araw Mo and Love Moves In Mysterious Ways, the latter he sang at the presscon). The other artists and their songs are: Toni Gonzaga (God Bless The Broken Road), KC Concepcion (What About Love), Karylle (It Must Have Been Love), Regine Velasquez and Lani Misalucha (duet of When You Believe) and Nina (I Want To Know What Love Is).

Universal Records lady boss Kathleen Dy-Go presents Double Platinum Award to Kris Aquino for one of Kris’ four hit albums (Songs of Love & Healing). The fifth one, titled My Heart’s Journey (above), is on its way to also becoming a platinum.

As in the first four albums, Kris doesn’t sing but only narrates each song and talks about the six journeys of her life — The Broken Road, The Road Of Love, The Road To God, The Road Of Expectations, The Road Of Understanding and The Road Of Forgiveness.

The first album, Songs Of Love and Healing, was double platinum, the second, Love and Inspiration, gold; the third, The Greatest Love, platinum; and the fourth, Blessings of Love, also a platinum. All four and the fifth one are released by Universal Records.

At the presscon, Kris was, as usual, pestered by the press about her love life and that of her brother, Pres. Noynoy Aquino. In summary, Kris said, “James and I are friends now. I don’t want to comment on his love life (Rumor linking James Yap to Isabel Oli, which James has been denying to death. — RFL) because I don’t want him to accuse me of making pakialam with his personal life; and neither would I comment on my Kuya Noy’s private life kasi baka pagalitan na naman n’ya ako.”

Kris, who is set to spend the Holy Week in Singapore with her sons Joshua and James “Bimby” Jr., also denied that she and Diether Ocampo are an “item,” saying they are just good friends. “If there’s something between us, do you think we will be seen together in public? I’m really just comfortable with him as a co-worker and as a friend.”

And here’s the “soundtrack of her life” that Kris didn’t discuss at the presscon, it being Funfare’s “exclusive”:

The Six Songs That Mean So Much To Kris:

1. Impossible Dream (“Because it was my dad [Sen. Ninoy Aquino’s] favorite song.)

2. Hindi Kita Malilimutan (“Because it reminds me so much of my mom [Former Pres. Cory Aquino], especially the line ‘malilimutan ba ng ina ang anak na galing sa kanya’.”)

3. Magkaisa, Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo/Bayan Ko (“For our country and for our history, because they remind me how good it is to be a Filipino.”)

4. Anyone Else But You (by the Moldy Peaches) — “It is Josh’s favorite song, from the movie Juno. It’s about loving someone unconditionally, accepting fully.”

5. Just The Way You Are (by Bruno Mars who is having a concert tonight at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu and tomorrow night at the Araneta Coliseum, produced by Marvin Agustin’s Futuretainment Productions; Kris and friends Boy Abunda and Deo Endrinal are among the investors in the Manila concert) — “The favorite song of Bimby who said, ‘Mama, that’s my song for you’.”

6. The Best of Me (by David Foster) — “Self-explanatory choice, but I don’t want to expound on it because it might get me into trouble.”

And this is what Kris wrote in the Foreword of My Heart’s Journey:

Life is full of surprises — some pleasant, most unexpected, and some life-changing. I choose to be OPTIMISTIC. Tita Gina PareƱo sent me this quotation: “Yesterday ended last night.” I learned a lot about life, love and living since the very first album with Universal Records, Songs of Love and Healing came out immediately after I gave birth to Bimby. I lost my Mom, my brother became president, my marriage ended and now I enter a new decade of my life. I thank all of you for being interested in my thoughts, watching and supporting all my projects, and for giving me the encouragement to keep pressing forward. The coming years will b e filled with even more surprises but my FAITH in God’s LOVE continues to sustain and strengthen me. This compilation manages to look back while living in the present moment, and look ahead with a smile in my soul. I open my heart to you because I know that you can all see yourselves in me…That is why I thank you for the acceptance and the identification. God bless us with so much LOVE in our journey called LIFE.

Yahoo PH OMG! | Kris says never again to love, marriage

by Chuck Smith | omg! Philippines News Blog

*Photo: Jerome Ascano, NPPA Images

Three weeks after her last court hearing for the annulment of her marriage with basketball player James Yap, Kris Aquino said she's currently on a "road to redemption."

"Kasi parang feeling ko naman, naforgive ko na si James, naforgive na nya ako. Nakamove on na sya. Ako, siguro. Pero yung pagbangon muli, parang maraming within in me na kailangan kong piece by piece ayusin talaga. So yun ang ginagawa ko," Kris told members of the entertainment media yesterday, April 5, during the press launch of "My Heart's Journey," her fifth full-length album.

Because of what she experienced from her separation with Yap and the legal process involved with it, Kris told the press that she's saying "never again" to love and marriage.

"As of today, ayoko na talaga," she said. "Di kasi ako allowed to talk about the annulment process but it's really difficult. I took the stand—I'm not allowed to share what the testimony was, of course—but I took the stand almost three weeks ago. And pagkatapos nun, tinext ko ang ate ko, si ate Ballsy, and I said, 'Ate, never again na talaga. And you can keep this text and show it to me again next time na may gusto akong ipakilala sa inyo na he's the one.' Sasabihin ko, 'Ate, pakita mo sa akin na para paalala mo yung sinabing kong never again. So as of April 5, never again."

When asked what her heart has learned about love from her experience, Kris said, "Tumigil na. Yun ang natutunan ng puso ko. Awat na, tigil na. Manahimik ka na." She added, "Mag-usap tayo ulit ng October 11, 2011. Wedding anniversary yun ng mom and dad ko. Pero as of now, yun talaga. Awat na, tumigil ka naman, manahimik ka."

Song of her life. Because the press conference was for the launch of her new album, the press asked what right now is the song of her life.

Kris said if the question was asked three weeks ago, her answer would have been "I Want To Know What Love Is." But she added: Pero nga kasi, kahit sino sigurong nakipaghiwalay at tinatapos yun sa legal na proseso, maga-agree sa akin. You'd really reach a point na ayaw mo muna talaga. So ako, I don't even want to know what love is at this point."

Right now, however, her answer is "Breakeven" by the Irish pop rock band The Script.

"It's about a break-up talaga na sana talaga pag naghihiwalay pantay yung heartbreak. E hindi talaga," she said.

A part of the song goes: "What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you/What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up and you're okay/I'm falling to pieces."

No pain. Kris clarified that she is happy. She described her life as not complicated, relaxed, and "steady." "Okay na yun. Ayoko ng guluhin pa. Maayos na," Kris said.

Did the pain caused by separation resurface during the court hearing?

"Hindi pain. Kasi I always say walang regrets kasi nabigyan ako ng James Aquino-Yap. That's Bimby," Kris said, adding that James has nothing to do with her "never again" resolution.

But are the two of them friends right now, the entertainment press asked. Kris answered" "Hindi rin."

"Syempre nung nag-hearing ako, di ba? So di na kami nag-talk ulit," she said.

Kris added, "I've already learned to separate kung ano meron kaming problema o kung ano ang pinagdadaanan namin from his role as the father of Bimby. For as long as okay sila, labas na ako sa equation na yan."

Diether and Jun. And what about Diether Ocampo? Kris said they are not dating. The two were seen together during the Golden Screen Awards in Teatrino, Greenhills last Saturday.

"Ngayon na nagpapa-annul ako, kung meron talagang namamagitan sa amin ni Diet, do you think we'd be hanging out with each other for all of you to see? Hindi, di ba? Magtatago na lang kami sa bahay. Pero talagang friend na friend na friend ko sya talaga. At alam nya at alam ko na hanggang dun lang yun," she said.

As for Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay?

"We're really very good friends. We communicate daily. I have 100 percent trust in him and he also trusts me 100 percent, pero it's just that. Magkaibigan lang talaga kami," Kris said.

She explained that they are currently discussing a possible fund-raising activity for OFWs, hence the "very open communication lines." "Pero walang anything romantic," Kris added.

Kris Aquino releases her 5th spoken-word album: "My Heart's Journey"

"My Heart's Journey" features songs from Regine Velasquez & Lani Misalucha, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Nina, Christian Bautista, Jed Madela, Karylle, Toni Gonzaga, Kc Concepcion and Gail Blanco.

Kris Aquino releases her fifth full-length, studio album under Universal Records (first being “Songs of Love and Healing,” which reached double platinum in sales; second, “Love and Inspiration” which reached gold in sales; third, “The Greatest Love” which reached platinum in sales; and fourth is “Blessings of Love”) entitled “My Heart’s Journey.”

“My Heart’s Journey” is a spoken-word, special collector’s edition CD that features 15 tracks chronicling seven inspiring phases of Kris Aquino’s prodigious journey in her colorful life, with love in all of its many forms at the center being the unifying element.

The first segment in the CD is 'My Journey: The Broken Road'. Contrary to what the title may seem to suggest, this chapter documents the paradoxical nature of Kris’ life which is characterized by the right blend of trials and triumphs which essentially fuels her immense love for life. Here, Toni Gonzaga performs “God Bless The Broken Road” and KC Concepcion delivers a soulful rendition of “What About Love.”

In 'My Journey: The Road Of Love' Kris opens up her heart as she narrates the strong interconnection between love ballads and her romantic experiences in the past six years. Kris valiantly attempts to uncover the mysteries of falling in and out of love. In the process, she eventually emerges victorious by accepting both the pains and joys of falling in love. Christian Bautista gives a masculine twist to “Love Moves In Mysterious Ways” while Jed Madela dishes out a chilling interpretation of “Only Love” and “To Where You Are.” Karylle re-interpreted and breathed life to the seminal classic “It Must Have Been Love.”

'My Journey: The Road To God' expresses Kris’ spiritual, almost transcendental, journey as she completely surrenders her life to the infinite love of God. Similar to her current Petron endorsement, Kris professes that the example of her being a segurista is her absolute faith in God. Here, Kris Gail Blanco performs “I Will Be Here” and “In Your Eyes” while the inimitable tandem of Regine Velasquez and Lani Misalucha shines in their rendition of “When You Believe.”

Kris demystifies the misconceived notion that she has everything anyone could ever dream of by baring her deepest hopes and aspirations. 'My Journey: The Road Of Expectations' clearly proves that first and foremost, Kris is human, and a woman whose sincerest desire is to be loved, valued and respected for who she is and nothing else. Zsa Zsa Padilla gives a divinely soothing rendition of “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight.”

Kris’ emotional maturity and wisdom which is the fulfilling result of many years of heartbreak and heartache is communicated in 'My Journey: The Road Of Understanding' as Nina belts out “I Want To Know What Love Is.”

Kris celebrates the healing power of letting go and moving on in 'My Journey: The Road Of Forgiveness' as Jed Madela performs “Healing.” Jed Madela’s reading of “Beautiful In My Eyes” sums-up the great possibility of Kris to fall in love and accept romance in life one again in 'My Journey: The Road of Redemption'.

Christian Bautista performs a bonus track dedicated by Goldilocks to Kris for her birthday entitled “Araw Mo.”

Kris Aquino: My Heart’s Journey” is available in all leading record stores nationwide and it also comes with a special journal containing inspiring life-changing quotes written by Kris herself.

Pep.ph | Kris Aquino says "never again" to love and marriage; not on speaking terms again with James Yap

by Roldan Castro
Tuesday, April 5, 2011, 05:25 PM

As in magkaibigan lang talaga kami," giit ni Kris.

Nagkasama sina Kris at Diether sa 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival entry na Dalaw.

"Never Again."

"Kaya ko nasasabi na never again dahil hawak mo naman, e, kung sasabihin mo sa sarili mo to get another relationship or not, di ba?

Not Inviting Ipe.

"In all fairness, ilang beses ding sinabi ni Phillip na tumayo akong mag-isa bilang magulang ni Josh in all aspects. Hindi niya sinisikreto sa inyong lahat na financially, emotionally, physically, psychology, ako lang.

"So, siguro naiintindihan naman niya na kung day-to-day wala naman kayong communication, araw yun ng pamilya ko, na araw-araw ay kasama ni Josh," paliwanag ni Kris.

The Price Is Right. Itinanggi naman ni Kris ang balitang nagtampo raw siya sa ABS-CBN na ginawang Sabado na lang ang game show niyang The Price Is Right mula sa araw-araw nitong timeslot.

"No, in fairness sa akin, mature na talaga ako. Hindi, hindi talaga, honest to God. Inintindi ko. I respect ABS-CBN management. Ipinakita rin sa akin thru research why," sabi niya.
