SAM CONCEPCION ARTICLE ON STIR.PH

THE YOUNGER SAM
by: Richard Roxas | STIR Contributor

Sam Concepcion, the younger Sam in the local entertainment industry, knows how blessed he is. “I am very, very grateful,” he says. “It has been years but the support of SAMsters has never waned.” SAMsters are Sam’s bunch of loyal admirers who support him all the way.

Sam instantly captured the hearts of the public when he competed in the ABS-CBN talent show “Little Big Star” three years ago. Sam won the plum against Charice Pempengco in this talent show. It was during his stint that Sam developed this strong bond with the “SAMsters” who supported all of his endeavors.

Sam won numerous commendations in the short span of time that he has been pursuing his career, two of which are: a string of Candy Cutie Awards sponsored by “Candy Magazine”; and Nickelodeon’s Pinoy Wannabe Award. Recently, he was named Pure N' Fresh Top Teen Awards' Top Teen Male Entertainer Award. He also topbilled STAGES’ production of “High School Musical,” a critical and commercial success, as Troy Bolton.

Sam’s self-titled debut album, under Universal Records, produced a number of hit songs like “Even If,” his rendition of a Michael Jackson original “Happy,” and “I’ll Find Your Heart.” He is scheduled to release his second CD later this year. The young singer also broke new grounds when he was tasked to sing the theme song “Kung Fu Fighting”of the international animated movie “Kung Fu Panda.”

In the concert scene, Sam proved why Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano handpicked him to be his successor alongside international recording artist Billy Crawford. Gary was impressed by what he saw in Sam in his two-night, jampacked solo concert billed “I’ll Find Your Heart.”

On television, Sam was unforgettable as Boy Bawang in the superserye “Super Inggo,” as young Piolo Pascual in “Walang Kapalit,” as Betty La Fea’s younger brother Andrew in the ABS-CBN adaptation of the hit Colombian franchise. He was also seen in “Your Song Presents: Boystown” as the young and handsome Bobet and on “ASAP ’09,” where he is a part of the Gigger Boys.

Sam’s credibility as an endorser has also brought his image to a different level. He is one of the faces of Bench and Skechers, as well as the endorser of Karate Kid fastfood.

He has also been lauded for his numerous advocacies. Sam is Department of Education’s (DepEd) ambassador, and a World Vision stalwart. “I would not have done and achieved all these without the support of the SAMsters,” concedes Sam. “They are my source of inspiration. Marami pa kaming pagsasamahan,” he concluded with a hint of promise.
