It’s fair to say that cover versions have played a pretty large part in The Lemonheads' career. Despite crafting some of the most gorgeous guitar-pop songs of the ’90s, the band - or should we say Evan Dando and the rotating cast of musical extras are still remembered as those guys who got in the charts with Simon & Garfunkel’s "Mrs. Robinson". Not surprisingly, they have decided to release "Varshons", an 11-track covers album featuring their renditions of songs by Wire, GG Allin, Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen, Christina Aguilera and more! Filled with obscure nuggets, the tracks on "Varshons" cut a wide swath, jumping from early British psychedelic to Dutch electronica and like all good mix tapes, you never know what is coming next. Produced by The Butthole Surfers frontman Gibby Haynes, mixed by ex-Cornershop guru Anthony Saffrey, with guest vocal performances from actress Liv Tyler and model Kate Moss.About Universal Records
