"Kamikazee Explodes With New Album After 3-Year Hiatus"
by: Dyan Zarzuela | Published: July 8, 2009 Known for their LSS-inducing songs like “Narda,” “Chiksilog” and “Tsinelas,” countless bleeps by the censors and half-naked performances, Kamikazee is back with their third album Long Time Noisy after a three-year gap. SPOT.ph catches up with them in a round-table interview where laughter and respectful po’s pepper their answers.

The minute they sit down, vocalist Jay Contreras sets the humorous mood by asking us, “Guwapo po ba kami sa personal? Mukha po ba kaming foreigner? Ay sorry po ah. Palabiro po talaga kami.”

We ask why their new album took so long to make. Jay says they didn’t expect to have so many gigs lined up after their second album Maharot came out. This led to a lot of fighting.

Guitarist and vocalist Jomal Linao says it doesn’t matter how long it takes to make an album as long as it’s good and that they enjoyed making it. The band has learned, though, that they really need to make time for songwriting in between performances.

Long Time Noisy is a collective effort. Out of the album’s 20 tracks, only 13 are songs–the rest are sound bytes: singing in the shower, outtakes and thank yous, but the songs are surefire mosh pit hits. Angry, romantic, flirty and nostalgic with a kick, the album is punk.
