Balladeer Christian Bautista is set to record a remake of a Jose Mari Chan song with lyrics written as a poem by the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. for his widow, former President Corazon Aquino.
The song is titled “I Have Fallen In Love With The Same Woman Three Times” which is included in Chan’s 1989 Diamond-selling CD, “Constant Change.”
“I’m honored to have been allowed to sing a new version of the song,” said Christian in a taped interview aired in “Showbiz News Ngayon.”
“I know it (the song) is quite personal to her (Aquino).”
Bautista hopes for the song to propel people to continue praying for Aquino, who is afflicted with colon cancer.
“I am one with the whole country in praying for her recovery. I hope the former President keeps fighting the big fight,” he said.
Cory was diagnosed with colon cancer in March 2008. Though an earlier operation was declared to have been successful, it was later announced that the cancer had metastasized (meaning, it has spread throughout the body), making treatment more difficult.
The beloved leader, described as being in a “stable but weak” condition, had been confined at the Makati Medical Center for weeks now. Even former political rivals have joined hands in praying for her immediate recovery.
