Ogie and Mr. C are two of the biggest names in the local music industry; having written many hit songs and have produced music that has changed the landscape of Philippine pop culture. Mr. C is known for his grand, anthemic themes that celebrate the Filipino spirit. In contrast, Ogie has made his mark as a songwriter of sentimental, earnest love songs that genuinely reflect the feelings of the common man.
As to their repertoire, Ogie said “we shall be performing Mr. C’s songs and some of mine. My all-time favorite songs will also make the cut. And, I realized that so many of my favorite songs are his favorites too, like the George Canseco classics.” Ogie recently released “Ngayon at Kailanman: A Tribute to George Canseco,” an album of his personal interpretation of the Master’s compositions.
They will be performing songs from the past and the present, ranging from the kitsch or “jologs” songs, to the classic musicale line-up. “With Mr. C’s expertise in arrangement, together with Noel Cabangon and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers, their collaboration will be executed with class, grace and grandeur,” Pelita promised.
This will be Ogie’s second outing at the PICC (the first being in 1993), and his last as a single man since he and Songbird Regine Velasquez will be getting married in December. This is why his choice of songs has been influenced by his impending marriage.
