f(x) Battles It Out with Kids!

An elementary school kids’ version of f(x) has been garnering interest.

On the 3rd, during SBS ‘Star King‘, 5 elementary students took the stage, showing off dance skills that made it hard to believe that they were in elementary school.

This group called the ‘Changwon B-Girl f(x)‘ shocked the stars by showing off their flexible movements and talents. Along with back tumbling, they did a performance where they made a star with a rubber band with 2PM’s Wooyoung, earning applause from the audience.

The students then had a dance battle with the real f(x).

Near the end of their appearance, while everyone in the studio thought the ‘elementary f(x)’ was an all-girl group, it turned out that there was one boy member amongst them.

f(x)'s Krystal cast in a sitcom

Krystal from the popular girl group f(x) has been cast in the MBC sitcom “More Charming by the Day”.

She has been cast as the niece of Kim Sung-soo’s character named Jung Soo-jung. Jung Soo-jung is a high school student who comes to Seoul over break to attend a hakwon (academic institution for extra studies). Her character is a cute liar who borrows money from Lee Sun-ho’s character by acting like a person from a foreign country who speaks very little Korean and tricks Yeh Ji-won into thinking that she really wants to go to medical school.

After the first filming, Krystal revealed that she is excited to try something new in a completely different field of entertainment. She hopes to build experience and learn more about acting to improve and become a better actor.

Krystal’s first episode of MBC “More Charming by the Day” will air on July 6, 2010.

The newlywed bride f(x)’s Victoria showed off her excellent cooking skills while filming for KBS Invincible Youth.

New members Victoria, After School’s Jooyeon and Sori held a cooking battle to introducing themselves to the elderly in Yuchiri. In particular, many were surprised to see Victoria’s great cooking skills. Victoria showed her enthusiasm by even preparing a special sauce that her mom sent her from China. Victoria chose to make a spicy tofu dish and fried rice. She also had a cheesy gag battle with KARA’s Goo Hara that created laughter on set.

On the other hand, Jooyeon showed her poor cooking skills, making her manager a bit uneasy. At the end during the talent show, she showed a very different side of herself by singing a beautiful trot song.

Today was Sori’s first time cooking and so she and Secret’s Sunhwa created an interesting fusion style fish soup and dduk-bok-i (spicy rice cake dish) that no one has ever tasted before. Later at the talent show, Sori showed off her hidden ballet skills causing people to compliment her by saying, “B-boys are sure worth loving”.

This episode of Invincible Youth will air on July 2nd.

f(x) Tops Music Chart In The Philippines

Korean girl group f(x) recently topped a music chart in the Philippines, making it their first time to rank atop a chart overseas.

According to a report by 10Asia on Friday, the five-member female idol group took the #1 spot on the album chart of Filipino music retailer Astroplus during the week of June 14 to 20 with their latest album "NU ABO."

The girls had been successful at promoting the mini-album in Korea since its release on May 3 with the title track topping numerous music charts in the country.

While the girls have been a sensation in Korea since their debut in 2009 with single "LA chA TA," they had never sealed a #1 position overseas.

f(x), composed of Sulli, Krystal, Luna, Amber and Victoria, are managed under talent powerhouse SM Entertainment.

allkpop | f(x) ends promotional activities for NU ABO

Due to Amber’s ankle injury, f(x) will be stopping promotions for NU ABO a tad earlier then originally planned.

f(x)’s appearance back on the 27th at SBS Inkigayo was confirmed to be their last with NU ABO.

SM Entertainment said, “Although Amber doesn’t have a major injury, she hasn’t fully recovered yet, and because of that promotions for f(x) will end now. We didn’t want to sit Amber out again, and the members are busy with individual activities.”

Meanwhile, each member will continue with their fixed show appearances.

Victoria will continue to appear on MBC’s We Got Married and KBS’s Invincible Youth. Sulli will continue to host SBS’s Inkigayo while Krystal will be filming for MBC sitcom More Charming By The Day.

Super Junior teams up with One Way for upcoming repackaged album

Recent photos of Super Junior cutie Donghae with One Way leader Chance which entered the Twitterverse (Twitpicverse, technically…) yesterday have ignited the curiosity of many fans. Now we now know the reason why the duo has been hanging out as of late – aside from Donghae & Chance’s offstage friendship, Super Junior and One Way will be officially collaborating for SuJu’s upcoming repackaged fourth album!

Since the thirteen member boy band has also released repackaged versions of their past albums, it’s no surprise that they’ll be following the pattern with Bonamana; however, this news marks the first confirmation that the repackaged album is well underway.

“Recently I have been personally been in touch with SM Entertainment to work on a remix for Super Junior’s 4th repackage album,” leader Chance told allkpop today. “It has been confirmed for the release.” Since One Way composes and arranges everything in their studio, Donghae has been personally visiting over the past week to record and work with the trio on the track.

Speaking of idol friendships, One Way is also close with 2PM, so perhaps we’ll see some form of a collaboration in the future… only time will tell, so stay tuned!

Super Junior’s follow-up track No Other released!

Just a few days ago, it was revealed that Super Junior would be ending their Bonamana promotions this week only to start their follow-up promotions with a follow-up track in their upcoming repackaged album set to release on the 28th.

Last week, Super Junior’s follow-up track titled No Other was finally released! The track has a different atmosphere then Bonamana as it has more of a mellow and R&B feel that make you feel happy. Listen below and enjoy the song.

No Other is produced by C-2, Ryan Jhun and Reefa who in the past has work with artists such as The Game, Fabolous and Ludacris. The track’s lyric which expresses one’s emotional feelings for a lover is written by Kenzie.

Super Junior’s repackaged album contains four new songs: No Other, All My Heart, A Short Journey and a remix version of Shake It Up.

ShinDong posted photos of him doing a shave on his Twitter on 29th June. All this while, he has been keep his moustache on the face. And in the photos, ShinDong was seen posing with a sad expression.

Netizens commented, “Thank you for shaving your moustache”, “You look younger now” etc.

Super group Super Junior says it’s here to stay

Super Junior, the Korean super group founded in 2005, had some major changes to its lineup last year, but its fifth anniversary year looks like it will be another successful one for the group, which is one of the largest boy bands in the world.

Last month, when Super Junior released its fourth full-length album, it sold 100,000 copies in the first week after its release on April 13. Industry experts expect the album, titled “Bonamana,” will surpass the group’s previous sales record, achieved with its third album “Sorry Sorry.” That album sold 250,000 copies and topped the album sales chart when it was released in March last year.

At a time when other groups such as Girls’ Generation are eschewing the regular full-length CD format in favor of mini albums, digital albums and other kinds of special albums, that’s quite a feat.

Despite their success, the up-and-coming idol group has struggled this year. Three of the band’s members - Han Geng, Kang-in and Kibum - left the group during the recording period. In the coming year, the band is facing new challenges, with marriage and military service looming on the horizon.

In a recent interview with 10 of the band’s 13 members, however, the boys seemed committed to staying together for years to come, no matter what life may throw their way.

Q. What has made you such a strong group over the past five years?

A. Heechul: We really talk a lot. If there are problems, we talk until they are resolved. Lack of communication always creates problems.

Q: It must have been difficult for you to make the new album without the three other members of the band.

Sungmin: We felt pressure taking their places, but it has also given us an opportunity to think about how important each member of the band is.

Q: What do the three other members think about the new song “Bonamana”?
Leeteuk: Kang-in said the group’s dance moves are awesome and Kibum said he was sorry that I have to fill the space he left.

Q: The choreography for the song is pretty impressive.

Eunhyuk: The dance moves were created by American choreographer Nick Bass, who was inspired by figure skating and short track skating.

Q: Many people have said the title song for the current album is very similar to the group’s previous hit song “Sorry Sorry.”

Leeteuk: Maybe that’s because the new song is so characteristic of what we do and that’s what makes people think that Sorry Sorry and the new song are alike.

I think that criticism like that is better than nothing because it shows that Bonamana has made an impression on the public.

Heechul: For me, the criticism is flattering because it is a sign that we’ve found our signature sound. In fact, Leeteuk and I didn’t like the idea of [Bonamana] as the title song because we didn’t think the electronic sound represented us.

But after recording it and practicing the dance moves, I’ve changed my mind. I think the song suits us.

Q: Shindong proposed to his girlfriend [in a numerical code] in the liner notes and his actions have since become the talk of the town. What’s happening with that?

Shindong: I was thinking about decoding it for the public after the album was released but my fans have already decoded it.

I haven’t heard from my girlfriend since I popped the question, but if she says yes, I want to get married as soon as possible.

Q: Do you think you will still perform as Super Junior even if some of you get married?

Heechul: It’s our goal to keep singing and dancing as Super Junior when we are 30 and 40, even after marriage and our military service.
