Actress Shin Se Kyung did not attend her boyfriend’s two-day concert, held on January 1st and 2nd.

Much attention has been put on her attendance, since it was revealed late last year that she was seeing SHINee’s Jonghyun. SM Entertainment eventually responded, “We’ve been informed that Shin Se Kyung will not be attending SHINee’s concert today (Jan.2). She is filming for her movie, ‘Blue Salt‘, with Song Kang Ho.”

Meanwhile, SHINee managed to gather over 20,000 fans for their first concert since their debut two years and seven months ago. Jonghyun, who has a leg injury, had Chinese trainee Issing take his place during a portion of his performances. Jonghyun greeted, “I’m glad to be able to spend the New Year with my fans. It’s a great start this year.”

For SHINee fans, the best way to kick off 2011 was to see special handwritten messages from their favorite idols.

The boys recently took to their official site and left behind some heartwarming notes for their fans:

Onew cackled, “Let’s have a fun 2011! HAHAHAHAHA”

Jong Hyun wrote, “Happy New Year! Best of health!!”

Cleverly, Key included the figure of a rabbit in his message, as 2011 will mark the year of the Rabbit. “Happy New Year! Always be healthy! Let’s be as one for a long time!”

The artistic Minho expressed, “Happy New Year! Always be happy and healthy! You’re the best~”

Finally, Taemin wrapped up the set with his cheerful message, “Happy New Year! I’ll do my best for the remaining year of my teens! Fighting~!”

1st “SHINee World” concert in Korea a huge success!

Last Christmas weekend, the boys of SHINee held their concert ‘The 1st Concert in Tokyo’ “SHINee World” at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo. To kick off the new year, the boys held the first leg of their two day concert “SHINee World” at the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium in Seoul.

Various members from the entertainment industry including members from Super Junior, MBLAQ, B2ST, and TVXQ were in attendance to show their support for the group and their first concert in Korea. SHINee is scheduled to held their second concert on January 2nd at the same venue around 4:00 PM (KST). They’re also scheduled to go to Australia in a few weeks for the “Korea-Australia Friendship Concert“, taking place on January 12th at Sydney Town Hall.

SHINee’s leader Onew and rapper Minho were interviewed for a behind-the-scenes video of a photoshoot. The two December birthday boys participated in W magazine’s January 2011 issue. Entitled “Double Doors”, the shoot featured them in a more serious and darker shoot with a monochromatic theme.

In the interview, the two members of SHINee discuss memorable album jacket shootings, as well as what it means to be “a true man.”

Minho: It’s good to have a photoshoot in a long time. I enjoy photo shooting because I can try new things, make new challenges, and experience many things.
Onew: In our Lucifer album jacket shooting, matrix technique was used. Cameras flashed all around me. It is still vivid in my memory.
Minho: In our first album jacket shooting, when I didn’t know anything, it was most unforgettable that I felt awkward. I think a true man doesn’t give up to the end. A true man is born to strive to achieve his goal until death.
Onew: Isn’t a man who doesn’t lie a true man? I think that is most wonderful. We’ll show you cool looks soon, so look forward to it.
Minho: I was glad to have this photoshoot for W. We have a concert on Jan. 1-2. Look forward to it and love SHINee. Thank you.

SHINee will be holding their first official concert in Korea at the Seoul Olympic Stadium on January 1st and 2nd. They will be also be holding their first overseas solo concert on December 26th in Japan, which will take place at Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Stadium.

It was a special Inkigayo episode on December 19th as SHINee returned to the stage!

Two months have gone by since the boys said their goodbye, so it was definitely great to see them regroup back on stage with their irresistible charisma with “Lucifer” and “Hello” again.

SHINee’s December birthday boys bonded in a recent shoot for W Korea Magazine.

Boy group SHINee’s dubu leader Onew and charisma visuals Minho teamed up for a pair photo shoot for W Korea. The boys posed in high fashion, as the magazine is quite known for, donning predominantly black and white clothing. A bit of fur, sleek oversized hoods and straight lines defined their outfits for the shoot, presenting a manlier, grown up side of the idols.

Allkpop | SHINee releases X-mas version of “Haru”

Earlier in the fall, SHINee contributed a track called “Haru” for an omnibus drama of the same name. In celebration of the upcoming Christmas holiday, the boys have delivered a special present for their fans in the form of a wintry remake!

The song was produced by the Korean Tourism Organization as a part of the OST for the omnibus drama. Other stars such as Super Junior, Tiffany and Bobby Kim have brought light to the drama with their participation.

Although SHINee previously released “Haru” on November 5th, the group made a surprise reveal of an ‘X-mas’ version on December 13th for the Christmas season.

The song was re-arranged to fit the holiday season and features an upgrade in terms of quality, making many deem it as the ‘finalized version of Haru OST.’

Representatives have introduced the track as a ‘time-capsule’-like song that will allow fans to treasure the sweet and melodic voices of SHINee in order to feel the joy and warmth every moment of their day.

SHINee stated, “We felt that there were a lot of people going through struggles instead of enjoying their year-end, so we have released ‘Haru (X-mas)’ as our small form of consolation. Please have a SHINee day for the rest of 2010, everyone!”

Fans commented, “SHINee is always ahead in doing good deeds,” “‘Haru (X-mas)’ brightens up my day,” and “This is a good confession song for the Christmas holiday as well.”

Tolling bells and chimes lend that special holiday flavor to the track, so grab a mug a hot chocolate and sit back as “Haru” carries you through the heartwarming season.

Koreaboo | SHINee & 2NE1 perform at the 12th Korea-China Song Festival

Recently, KBS 1TV and China’s CCTV came together to co-host the 12th Korea-China Song Festival. The festival took place on December 2nd. It featured some of Korea's top singers like Girls' Generation, SHINee, 2NE1, CN Blue, KARA, and more. The festival will be broadcast in Korea on KBS 1TV and on CCTV in China, next week on December 12th.

Seoulbeats | SHINee's Minho Plays Piano

SHINee‘s Minho recently made his acting debut in “Pianist,” a one-episode part of KBS’s “Drama Special.” In the drama, Minho played Oh Je-ro, a piano tuner who turns out to be a prodigy pianist. Playing the role would, of course, require him to learn the piano – or fake it, at the very least.

It isn’t easy to fake an immense amount of piano skill for a drama, especially if one has not touched a piano until several months prior to shooting. I’m no piano prodigy, but I have played the pieces featured in “Pianist” in the past, and I’m pretty sure that Minho played water-downed versions of the pieces for the drama. And if you’re talking Chopin, that’s no easy feat, either. He had me fooled for quite some time…that is, until I showed the video to some of my other piano-playing friends, whose conclusions forced me to pry the fangirl goggles off my face and accept that Minho isn’t a magical piano playing god. Sigh.

For those who are curious, the three pieces featured in the drama were (in chronological order):
-Frederic Chopin: Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23
-Frederic Chopin: Etude Op. 25, No. 11 (“Winter Wind”)
-Claude Debussy: Premiere Arabesque: I. Andantino Con Moto

I couldn’t figure out what the other two pieces were, but in the drama it’s implied that Je-ro composes those pieces himself; therefore, I’m assuming that they’re original pieces composed specially for the drama.
Wasn’t there some sort of unspoken K-drama rule demanding that a good K-drama actor must be able to do two things: 1) cry on cue, and 2) play the piano? Seems like we’re seeing less of the real deal in both cases, but hey – if you gotta fake it, you might as well do a good job.

Allkpop | SHINee’s Minho & SNSD’s Yuri act out a kissing scene

On an episode of KBS2TV’s “100 Points out of 100,” SHINee’s Minho and SNSD’s Yuri reenacted a scene of the musical “Grease” while attempting to learn how to express a wider variety of emotions.

Yuri joined the program’s school special as a new student and captured the attention of the studio by performing SNSD’s latest hit, “Hoot.” In a corner created to help stars become more sensitive and emotional, Yuri and Minho were asked to act out “Summer Nights,” a number of the musical “Grease.”

Musical actress Kim So Hyun was highly impressed with Yuri’s skills and complimented, “You could go stand on stage right now!”

The show ended its episode with a kiss scene between Yuri and Minho, and this will be shown on December 4th at 5:15 PM through KBS2TV.

SHINee's Minho & Taemin get muddy for 'Dream Team 2' in Saipan

SHINee’s Minho and Taemin were spotted filming an episode of 'Dream Team 2' in Saipan! The boys were seen wearing war paint and mud in what looks like an effort to look menacing.

Too bad Minho looks like a cute puppy, especially in the photo where one of the team members tries to squeeze his cheeks.

One netizen also raised a very good point. Why is Taemin the only one wearing long pants when everyone else was wearing shorts?
