Club 8 will release brand new album "The People's Record" this May
Sweden’s Club 8 is commonly recognized for their personal blend of melancholic, dreamy and irresistibly catchy style of pop has been a forerunner for bands like Camera Obscura, jj and Kings of Convenience. Their 7th album "The People’s Record" marks the beginning of a new era. The band has travelled to Brazil for inspiration, bought records made in the '70s in Western Africa, used a percussion player from Cuba and hooked up with producer Jari Haapalainen (The Concretes, Camera Obscura, Ed Harcourt). The result is unique mix of Swedish pop melodies and African rhythms - undoubtedly one of the most unique, captivating and catchiest pop records of the year! Universal Records will Re-Issue Club 8's 1998-2003 albums
Sweden's Club 8 was formed in 1995 by Karolina Komstedt and Johan Angergård. They made simple bedroom recordings of their three first songs and sent them to their ten favorite record labels. The response was just as immediate as it was good with half of the labels wanting to release the band's music. Club 8’s first six albums originate from Swedish melancholy, classic English guitar pop and Brazilian sounds. They are commonly recognized for their personal blend of melancholic, dreamy and irresistibly catchy style of pop and have been a forerunner for bands like Camera Obscura, jj, and Kings of Convenience.
Universal Records is proud to announce the re-issue of Club 8's albums released between 1998 and 2003.

Club 8, The Story So Far...
Club 8 was formed in 1995 by Karolina Komstedt (from the band Poprace) and Johan Angergård (Acid House Kings, Poprace). They made simple bedroom recordings of their three first songs and sent them to their ten favourite labels. The response was just as immediate as it was good with half of the labels wanting to release the band. Club 8 chose the Spanish label Siesta where they released their debut single 'Me too' later the same year and the debut album 'Nouvelle' the year after..
The sound on the debut album was definitely a bit naive and twee. And as charming as a lot of people found the debut to the follow up 'The friend I once had' (1998) felt like a big step forward for the band. Their mix of bossa nova, glittery guitars, shiny pop melodies and small hints of dance music made this album an indie-success. They also debuted as a live act with a performance at CMJ in New York in 1999.
Striving for constant change and improvements Club 8 moved away from the bossa nova influences and direct pop songs of 'The friend I once had' with the self-titled follow up. 'Club 8' (2001) was both darker and slower. Still, they managed to expand their audience and had somewhat of a hit with 'Love in December'. The only real problem the band had experienced was the fact that recording on limited studio time was a hindrance to their experimental lusts. Late 2001 Club 8, along with fellow band Acid House Kings, set up their own recording studio – Summersound Studios.
With 24/7 access to a recording studio of their own Club 8 entered their most creative and productive phase to date recording the diversified, semi-electronic and slightly experimental, but intensely emotional 'Spring came, rain fell' in 2002 and the more guitar-based and kept together follow up 'Strangely Beautiful' (2003). The latter contained the song 'Saturday Night Engine' which was, very accurately, described as "a storming (very) Northern soul-inspired track bursting with an excitement that sounded quite out of place in that quiet group's discography” and a forerunner to Johan’s band The Legends according to All Music.
After the release of 'Strangely beautiful' Club 8’s activity slowed down while Johan formed The Legends and released three albums with the band between 2003 and 2006, plus the album 'Sing along with Acid House Kings' with Acid House Kings in 2005. During this period Club 8 only did a few minor tours in Asia and Europe.
Summer 2006 Club 8 was about to burst of creativity and urge to start recording again and in September they started recording their 6th album.
'The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Dreaming' is Club 8's most profound to date, balancing perfectly between sunshine and melancholia. Twelve songs that’ll make you sing along about death to while dreaming of summer days. A glorious return to say the least.
Next album 'The People's Record' is due in May and is said to be different and absolutely amazing. It's the first time the po duo has collaborated with a producer and the choice fell on Jari Haapalainen who to this date has produced the likes of Camera Obscura and The Concretes.

U-Kiss Elle Girl Interview
U-Kiss was in the Philippines when we gave them a call, and they was in Thailand when we scored a photoshoot deal with them, and finally arrived at the studio 36 hours after returning to Korea. U-Kiss is soaring high to be the group that reached out to all over Asia.
SOOHYUN
You performed with some artists in Bangkok, and just came back yesterday. I heard that U-KISS received great cheers.
Based on when I saw the audience's response, we're among the top 3 out of the 18 teams? As you know, Alexander hyung and Kevin are part of Arirang TV 'Pops In Seoul', which is broadcasted in 188 countries around the world. I guess, that is the reason of the well-known U-KISS.
I heard that you spent about 3 years as a trainee, (during that time) have you ever wavered a bit about your dream as a singer?
Not at all. But I've had lots of up and down moments such as moving to other company or my contract might be terminated. In fact, I almost didn't make it as U-KISS member too. U-KISS's original concept was a pretty boy idol group, but honestly, I'm not that good looking. Because if this, during audition, it was really hard for me to convince the president even though I gave all my best.
These days, I could see you showing your sense of humor through variety shows like 'Star Golden Bell' and 'God Of Cookery Expedition'. Did you get recognition because of it?
I talked a lot during my school days and my friends would laughed at it. My middle school friends thought that I will become a comedian. Because of that, I didn't feel nervous and had lots of fun while recording. I know what I'm supposed to say when it was the time for me to speak up. I feel really good when I can burst out the 'bbang' feeling to people. This is what people will look at when they watch variety shows. I feel very comfortable and enjoy it a lot because this is my personality.
In one cable channel TV, I saw you on a date with a girl, and witnessed that you treated your partner really well. Is that the real you? Or it's just for broadcasting purposes?
It's 50-50. Because we were a couple for one day, I wanted to give the best that I can during that time. Actually, girls would feel bored if they were treated nicely everyday. I know that for sure. Haha.
Among the 7 U-KISS's members, you are one of them that can legally drink alcohol. What is your alcohol tolerant?
I can drink really well. I don't really know my level of tolerant. Until I feel dizzy? I feel like dying whenever I drink until dizzy.
U-KISS is growing as the time passes by. What is your goal?
Since we are the multinational group, our goal is to become the world star. I hope that there will be an opportunity to personally work and releasing a special album with my friends. At the moment, our music has the 'idol feelings' in it, but I hope that one day, we would be recognized as musician.
KIBUM
What were you doing before today's shooting?
I was exercising at the gym. When debuting, I was given the cheerful concept but it didn't really matched with me. Because of that, I started exercising during the preparation period of 'Man Man Ha Ni'. I had a slim appearance back then, but now, I have some muscles and and a build body. But when I saw Rain sunbae, who is recently making a comeback, my muscles got shocked. (Laugh)
I saw you guys during the photoshoot session, and witnessed that there are so much hype and you guys laughed a lot too.
We do not hide anything and everything, no matter where we go. It's really hard for us to force a smile. Usually, the photographer will say 'Give me a smile' and then, one of the member will give a big 'Ha ha ha' laugh. Then, the rest of the members will follow the laugh too, because it's funny.
You are one of MBC Every1 'Bokbulbok 2' cast, is it hard to fit in with the seniors who are a lot older than you?
There were lots of worries at first. I heard lots of scary rumor for several times. But when we met, everyone treated the maknae really well. The hyungs will come to me first and called me 'Kibum-ah~' and asked for my number.
Usually, how do you spend your leisure time? Perhaps, playing computer game with your hyung (SS501's Kim Hyungjun)?
Both of us really like gaming. If we came home late after all the schedules ends, we could play games until 5 am and then, go back to work at 7am. Maybe it's an addiction.
Kim Hyungjun and Kim Kibum, do you guys have a good brotherhood since young?
Lots of people ask about that. We do not lie about the closeness of our brotherhood for the sake of broadcasting. When you were young, of course you would fight. However, at home, the two of us would never fight because we're busy with our computer. Due to our busy schedules, we could only meet for a short time to have fun. I don't see the point of fighting between brothers.
The competition between idol groups are very fierce nowadays. What is U-KISS strategy?
As you've heard, we're the 'international band' because our members come from different nationalities and speak different languages. Another thing, the relationships between our members are very good. Even during broadcasting, we're very comfortable and being frank with each other, and maybe that's what make us appeal to the public. The friendly feeling, that's what U-KISS is.
KEVIN
You were born and raised in America, who inspired to have a dream as a singer?
I was exposed to music at the very young age because there are lots of people in my house that like music. I even joined the School and Church choir. When I saw Rain sunbaenim performed in America, that's when I started to dream that 'I should be a singer'.
Because of this dream, you’ve had to leave your family in America.
I came to audition in Korea with my mother in 2006. My mother won't leave me alone since she was really worried about me, so she's living with me. My father and older sister live in America though.
I heard that the members often said that they are jealous of Kevin’s singing skills. Mind sharing you secret in singing well?
I'm still lacking a lot. I think that the best and faster way to improve is to sing your favorite songs a lot of time rather than just forcing yourself to practice.
You became a hot topic recently, thanks to your pretty appearance as a woman in 'Star King'.
I was really embarrassed at that time. I have to wear wigs and makeup, girl's inner clothes and stocking. It made me think that it's really hard being a woman. But thanks to that, my name reached the #1 spot in search ranking for the first time.
I observed you today, and I think that you are really sweet and polite. When on stage, isn't it hard to be yourselves and then transform to someone else?
I don't show my sweet look while singing intense songs. It was really awkward during practice, but I'm glad that people noticed the differences. I feel really good when hearing people said that "I have charisma (on stage)". I want to be a singer that does well in any genres, including sad songs and lively songs.
Among the 7 members, who is the member that fits you laugh's code?
The members that have the experience living in foreign country Alexander hyung and Eli? The three of us will just laughed whenever we're watching movies or drama, but the other members will ask why were we laughing when it wasn't even funny.
What kind of image do you want to show more to the public?
I want appeal to various ages. Whether I'm singing or acting, I want to hear people say "Ah, Kevin looks totally different". I need to gain more weight and exercise too.
Exactly. You’re too thin.
I'm so busy until the point where I can't gain weight. However, I'm happier that we're busier. I just want to work even if it's our rest day.

Invasion of the Brides
See more pics here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=429591&id=214540185413
Congratulations Pinoy Elfs! 'Super Junior Will Marry U Day' last May 8, 2010 was a huge success! Three of the country's biggest record stores were invaded by hundreds of brides waiting to marry their favorite SuJu members. Odyssey Megamall's management had to send additional security personnel when the store had to close its gate after more than 300 fans showed up as early as 10am! In Music One Greenbelt, more than 80 people were already falling in line as early as 9am, one of them from Laguna and even one from Bicol. Astroplus Mall Of Asia had to set up a wedding venue outside their store, anticipating that this event will surely be the 'Biggest Wedding Of The Year'. True enough, more than 300 buyers were falling in line waiting to see their groom & get a copy of "Don't Don" (CD+DVD). The first 200 buyers of "Don't Don" (CD+DVD) in each store were able to get the Exclusive Super Junior Freebies! Special thanks to the participating stores - Astroplus Mall Of Asia (some of the pics here courtesy of them), Music One Greenbelt & Odyssey Megamall for converting their stores to wedding venues! Congratulations to Super Junior United Philippines for this brilliant & successful event!
Overheard during the event from two passersby "Nandyan ba ang Super Junior? Bat ang haba ng pila?" "Wala sila dyan. Mga misis nila yan!"
Super Junior Domination Did Not End at April 10
By: Zergkilla09 (Admin of Universal United KPOP Fans)
What’s more is that Universal Records Philippines and SJUPH entitled the day as “MARRY U DAY” where in girl and boy fans get a chance to get a picture of giant standees of Super Junior, the hitch?, they distributed the standees on the three stores. What’s more is that you have to hunt the Super Junior members and guess where they are located. The idea was actually a good idea, and either fans in groups would spread out to get an idea where their favorite member of super junior standees are, or a fan can roam around this music stores. Aside from that fan girls who bought album will be given a MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE indicating who are you marrying during that day, fans gathered, enjoyed, created new friendship, and more. With a lot of fans screaming for the standees you can only imagine what if they are real super junior members? Even if super junior is not here in the country at the said event some fans went screaming, cheering, and singing to the tunes of Super junior that is being played in the music stores. Also get a chance to post a message for super junior for free, there are lots of messages posted in the message boards provided.
It is well known that the Korean Boy Band group SUPER JUNIOR came here in the Philippines last April 10, 2010 for their first ever concert here in the Philippines, they rocked the big dome, bringing with them their giant stage, I never even thought that they can bring that stage here, for us kpop fans it was really a dream come true, for we only see them before either on MBC, SBS, KBS, or ARIRANG TV. Thus, Super Junior presented on stage the most energizing concert with their unique kind of concept. Through this fans went really great, welcoming super junior warmly. After that big event, there are a lot of fans who still got the hangover of the concert. Agree? Many even never believed their eyes that Super Junior would visit the Philippines. But does their Philippine domination end after the concert?
ANSWER… NOT! After the Super Show 2 in Araneta, it was followed by the release of their Philippine Edition Don’t Don Album at Music One, Astro Plus, and Odyssey, on the locations, Greenbelt, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Megamall. The album launching was started at 10:00AM but guess what, as early as 8:00 AM there are already a lot of fans waiting outside SM Megamall. And when Odyssey opened well, fans keep going in on the music store, selling a lot of albums with freebies 3 posters 2 small ones and 1 giant size poster, plus the free membership that was offered by one of the fan bases of Super Junior here in the Philippines called, Super Junior United Philippines. That free registration includes a free bookmark both the picture of Don’t Don and the teaser picture for the 4th album of Super Junior.
What’s more is the administrators of the fan club, and also the administrators of their page are very accommodating and friendly. They were really working hard for this, some of them even ate their lunch too late, even if hungry they still continued, and I really have a lot of respect to these people who really are out there to share the love of Super Junior around, the warmness, the welcome, and everything.
Aside from the administrators are the fans, I met a lot of fans who were cheering for super junior supporting them all the way, even if there is a long line, they still wait for the opportunity to get a picture of sj members. They were so kind so nice, and the feeling is that all were united in this event. Its as if we were a lot but we are one. Afterwards I also met fans from National Bookstore who were searching for kpop magazines, most of them wish there will be a stable kpop shop where they can buy t-shirts, etc. This fans were so nice and really is into kpop.
Good thing that we have this kind of activities to help boost the kpop music here in the country. To those who wanted to be a member of sjunitedph that wasn’t able to join (because they were out of forms as early as 9am and needs to be photocopied until the forms were out) You may download the form from www.sjunitedph.org and either email to them the form or use a snail mail.
As for me I want to CONGRATULATE AND THANK UNIVERSAL RECORDS and SJ UNITED PHILIPPINES for a successful event and we hope that you will have more events to come.
For the fans of Super Junior, please wait for their fourth album, and of course they will present it live in Music Bank on May 14. I hope everyone who went in the other malls were happy as well.
Please don’t forget to add us at our facebook page UNIVERSAL UNITED KPOP FANS. Thank you everyone for the support and the KPOP LOVE that we all shared. This goes to show that no matter, what fans are there to support the kpop groups and it also goes to show that whatever negative comments that goes out, we still love our Kpop as it is, and trust me we will really just answer WE DON’T CA A A A ARE, cause we really don’t mind it, most of us even loved kpop even before they become famous here in the Philippines, to the fans, enjoy and spread the kpop love.
PS sjuph if you read this you may get some pictures on the activity on our site at UNIVERSAL UNITED KPOP FAN PAGE including the pics of some people in the line ;) thank you again
