Billy Crawford Receives Gold Record Award for "Groove"

International R&B-Pop Sensation Billy Crawford's latest album "Groove" has been certified GOLD! Billy received his Gold Record award from Universal Records General Manager Kathleen Dy Go last Sunday (April 18th) on ASAP XV after the launch of his latest single "One Last Cry". "Groove" is Billy's SECOND GOLD RECORD under Universal Records, his first was for the album "Big City" in 2006.

Unlike Billy Crawford's past albums “Ride,” “Big City” and “It’s Time,” “Groove” is a covers album, his tribute album to his musical influences and the music he grew up listening to. Some of the songs in “Groove” were recorded abroad and some in the Philippines. It was also a creative collaboration among him, his friend Marcus Davis and Universal Records’ Platinum Producer Ito Rapadas.

Inside “Groove” are “Steal Away”, “Sexy Eyes”, “Mercy, Mercy Me”, “Let’s Groove”, “Could It Be I’m Falling In Love”, “Lovely Day”, “Never Let Her Slip Away”, “Someone”, “How Sweet It Is”, “One Last Cry” and bonus tracks like a Silverfilter Remix of “Steal Away.” Also in “Groove” is his duet with girlfriend Nikki Gil entitled “You’ve Got a Friend”.

Internationally Billy Crawford has sold more than 2 million records! In 2001, Billymania started in Europe when his smash hit "Trackin" went straight to the top of the French charts and was certified platinum (more than 500,000 copies sold). The track also made #1 in Holland, #2 in Belgium, #3 in Switzerland, #20 in Germany. His second album "Ride" was certified gold in France (100,000 copies) within just a few weeks and shipped gold in Switzerland. The album went on to achieve platinum status in the French market (300,000) and a total of 450,000 copies have been sold to date. Billy Crawford has already received a nomination at the 2002 NRJ Music Awards for “Best Newcomer of the Year” and in 2003, he was awarded as “International Male Artist of the Year” beating competition from Will Smith, Eminem and Robbie Williams. In 2004, Billy released his 3rd album “Big City” and toured the Philippines to promote the album release. The first single “Bright Lights” was an immediate success and the album was certified Gold. He released another album in 2007 entitled “It’s Time” and hosted a dance reality show “M.O.V.E.” The winning dancers became part of his back-up dancers in his major concert at the Araneta Coliseum. In 2008, Billy transferred to ABS-CBN and became the host of Pinoy Dream Academy and is now seen regularly on ASAP XV and Pilipinas Got Talent.

Tiago Iorc's "Blame" music video on MYX Premiere

Originally from Brazil, Tiago Iorc (pronounced ee-ork) moved abroad with his family at an early age, living for several years in England and in the United States. At the age of eight, already back to his former country, he began his relationship with music as he first touched the acoustic guitar. Overwhelmed by music ever since, Tiago never restrained effort in appreciating various genres, always aiming to learn from the songs he considered consistent examples of melody, harmony and expression. Nowadays, the 23 year old singer/songwriter feels comfortable enough to sketch his first compositions and to truly express himself through his music.

His debut album "Let Yourself In" is a diverse collection of pop songs that reflect a wide range of musical influences. The album walks a line between rock, soul, blues and jazz, including his versions of worldwide classics - The Beatles "Ticket To Ride" and The Temptations "My Girl". His well-placed lyrics and carefully crafted melodies show the main concern of his work - synergy between lyric and music. Includes "Nothing But A Song", "Blame", "No One There", "There's More To Life" and more! Will definitely appeal to fans of Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson and John Mayer.

"Let Yourself In" is released locally by Universal Records.

International Idols U-Kiss for Elle Girl

The 7-member boy group famous at home and abroad, U-Kiss has recently participated in a pictorial for Elle Girl as their main models for the May issue. Flaunting their dandy charm, the boys also joined in for a brief interview with Elle Girl and shared their pride of being the so-called International Idols.

The jokester Soohyeon revealed, “Ever since I was in school, I was very talkative and often made my friends laugh. My middle school friends tell me that they thought I was going to be a comedian instead. I am enjoying [my life] right now by being who I am.”

U-Kiss’ maknae Dongho also shared, “[Despite my image], I like being alone and I am currently investing my income in the stock market.”

A couple weeks ago, U-Kiss held their own showcase in the Philippines on the 4th, gathering more than 20,000 fans under one roof. On top of that, they were also a part of Shocking M Super Concert in Bangkok hosted by Mnet, captivating the hearts of their Thai fans. With the U-Kiss fever striking Asia-wide, it seems the boys are a step closer to being worldwide superstars.

U-Kiss DongHo is Seduced Easily?

This pretty boy may have an innocent charm, but who knew he could be so easily seduced?

On a recent episode of SBS ‘Quiz! Sixth Sense Battle’, U-Kiss’s maknae DongHo was asked what the most commonly misinterpreted action made by a woman is. He revealed his own experience how “female stars would come into our waiting room to visit us. I thought that the ones that looked at me and smiled while they greeted me, liked me.” Kim ChangRyul, DongHo’s co-star on KBS ‘Invincible Team’, also added, “DongHo thinks that whenever a female star walks into the waiting room, they’re looking at him.”

But of course, who can resist such a cute and charismatic person like DongHo? Hopefully though, he’ll understand that smiling and greeting is not the same as seducing.

Meanwhile, U-Kiss is getting ready to comeback with a follow-up song. Excited?

U-Kiss DongHo’s Investment?

Will U-kiss’ maknae, DongHo, ever stop surprising us?

Not too long ago, DongHo revealed on MBC’s Change The World that he loves to knit. He came by the hobby after finding that reading or playing games during the long car rides the band takes make him sick. Naturally, he took up knitting as an alternative, and as been knitting for 2 years since!

If fan’s were surprised at that news, they will be even more shocked by DongHo’s mature side revealed in magazine Elle Girl. In his interview, he confesses, ‘I usually like being alone and like saving money to invest them in stocks.’ This is completely different from the ’sporty maknae’ image that he usually portrays. It’s interesting to see someone so young already investing his money in stocks.

Well, I for one, would like to wish DongHo good luck with all his current and future investments!

Kibum of U-Kiss eats a tarantula!

It was revealed that U-Kiss member Kibum has ate a tarantula (poisonous spider) during a game for variety show MBC Every1’s Bokbulok Season 2.

In order to celebrate the upcoming Black Day, Bokbulok Season 2 made a special episode dedicated to “black foods.”

When Kibum was chosen through a random dice game to eat a tarantula, he couldn’t hide his contempt and surprise at the situation.

The chef who cooked this fried spider dish informed the idol, “Because tarantulas are poisonous, we first boil it in water and then fry it in oil to produce a dish that is safe to eat,” assuring him that the poison is gone.

Kibum instinctively took the fried spider with his hand and placed it in his mouth. The show cast and audience members were shocked as they watched Kibum bravely chew the spider’s head while the idol seemed nonchalant about the whole ordeal.

“It was really hard to begin eating it but once I did I just thought of my mom. Unexpectedly, it’s pretty good. After eating the body, the legs seem more like a snack,” Kibum said, as he proceeded to eat the legs as if they were dried squid legs instead of tarantula legs.

During this special episode, other “black foods” that were presented to the studio guests include squid ink, horse’s black intestinal organ diameters, frog eggs, mole crickets and fungus ridden black corns.

Kudos to Kibum for being brave enough to eat the tarantula. Personally, I wouldn’t be sure if I could eat it myself if I was asked to.
