SHINee vows to return to Philippines
Korean idol group SHINee will likely include the Philippines in their itinerary if they embark on an Asian tour.
SHINee members Onew, Jonghyun, Minho, and Key made the announcement at the press conference following their participation in the concert dubbed “Philippines-Korea Friendship Festival,” held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) last November 27.
SHINee is part of the current hallyu, or Korean wave, currently sweeping Asia. They debuted in the Korean music scene in 2008 under SM Entertainment agency, which also manages boy bands TVXQ and Super Junior.
“It was such an amazing experience. I actually cried,” one Filipino fan posted on the SHINee World Philippines fan forum after watching the pop idol group performed.
SHINee’s repertoire included “Stand by Me”, a song from the official soundtrack of the Korean hit drama series, “Boys over Flowers;” “Juliette,” one of their hits in Korea; and “Ring Ding Dong,” the group’s latest output that has already won several awards. Their fifth member, Taemin, was unable to join the concert due to illness.
Fans of the Korean boy band---many of whom wore SHINee t-shirts and brought banners and balloons---started lining up outside CCP as early as 1 p.m., some four hours before showtime. Many of the concertgoers got their tickets through a raffle sponsored by Arirang TV days prior.
The “Philippines-Korea Friendship Festival” concert was emceed by VJ Isak of Arirang TV’s “Pops in Seoul” and Filipino actor Luis Manzano. The opening remarks were given by Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Choi Joong Kyung.
Other featured acts were Filipino dance troupe Teatro Miguel, reggae band Brownman Revival, Korean jazz group Winterplay, and Korean rap duo Mighty Mouth.
The concert was part of the Korean Cultural Festival in the Philippines. It was organized by Korean broadcast station Arirang TV and government-owned TV station NBN, with support from Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Korea Communications Commission; the Korean Embassy in the Philippines; United Korean Community Association in the Philippines; Department of Tourism; Hanjin; ABS-CBN; SkyCable and Global Destiny.

f(x) "CHU"
Described as 'Asia's Pop Dance Group', f(x) is formed by five members: 22 year old Chinese talent Victoria who starred in the music videos of SHINee's "Noona Is So Pretty" and Super Junior M's "U"; 16 year old Luna; 16 year old Chinese-American rapper Amber; 15 year old Sulli, who appeared in "Seo Dong Yo", "Ba:Bo", and "Punch Lady"; and 14 year old Krystal, who is the younger sister of Girls' Generation's Jessica and the leading lady in SHINee's "Juliette" music video. The use of a variable for the group's name alludes to the members' varied talents and ability to succeed in Korea and overseas. In addition, the "f " stands for "flower", and the "x" refers to the female chromosome.
SM Entertainment's new girl group f(x) blows a kiss to fans with their anticipated first single "Chu~♡". After lighting up online charts with their digital debut single "Lachata" and CM song "Chocolate Love", the girls make their CD debut with this addictive Europop dance number. The fairy tale-like song is about a girl who wakes up from slumber after receiving a kiss, and is filled with curiosity and expectations of the world. The "chu" sound is repeated often in the song, giving it an extra cute and catchy bounce. The CD single also includes the new numbers "Step By Me" and "You Are My Destiny".
The "Chu" music video, which was filmed last month on a set near Seoul, was directed by contemporary music video director Cho Soo-hyun, who has worked idol group Super Junior for their hit song "It's You".
f(x) "Chu" CD Single tracklisting:
1. Chu~♡
2. Step by me
3. You are my destiny

Filipino fans of K-pop boy band TVXQ (aka DBSK or Dong Bang Shin Ki) are excited about the local release of the group’s The 3rd Asia Tour Concert “Mirotic” Live 2-CD album under Universal Record Philippines.

Fans are encouraged to buy the album and CassPH are planning to send their photos with the album and birthday banners to Junsu through AVEX, a record company which manages TVXQ’s activities and records in Japan.
Fans have been calling record stores Odyssey, Music One, Astroplus, Astrovision, O Music Video and the Landmark to reserve the album.

With remarkable vocal ability, great songwriting and an album just waiting to be discovered, Moony is the complete package! Ian Gillan's Newest Album "One Eye To Morocco" Out Now
2009 album from the legendary rock vocalist, Ian Gillan is renowned both as a member of Deep Purple, as well as leader of Gillan. Despite often being called a 'Heavy Metal Pioneer', Ian Gillan never felt he really belonged to that music category. His all time music inspiration and heroes are names such as James Brown, Ray Charles, Little Richard and the rockers of the '50s. It's with no surprise that all true Ian Gillan connoisseurs will find all these influences on this release. A 100% rock album, "One Eye To Morocco" will conquer new and old Gillan fans with an impressive collection of songs showing a big variety of moods and colors. From classic Gillan Rock to the Arabic sound of the title track plus soulful ballads and bluesy mid-tempo rockers.
jj "jj n° 2" CD Out Now
"jj n° 2" is the dreamy debut album from Gothenburg's jj. This mysterious outfit from Sweden makes the kind of warm, sunny Balearic pop the region has become known for, but jj do it much better than most. Sharing both the island sounds and sticky-fingered irreverence of their label mates The Tough Alliance and Air France, they also carry traces of iconic twee label Sarah Records and when jj drift closer to early-'90s ambient-house, they still allow emotion to flood through the textures, and they never start repeating themselves. For all the above reasons, jj have crafted a truly fascinating album and one of the best hidden gems of the year! Includes "Things Will Never Be The Same Again", "From Africa To Malaga", "Ecstasy", "My Hopes And Dreams" and more.

Sam Concepcion, one of the few local performers to go international (he sang the theme song in the Dreamworks animation movie, Kung Fu Panda) has been chosen as the celebrity endorser of “Husay Ng Batang Pinoy” 2009 PaperClay Nationwide Art Competition, sponsored by JNBM Amazing Arts Philippines Inc. (JAAPI) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
PaperClay is an art medium that has the consistency of moist colored paper with a hint of clay that could be applied to any surface—be it wood, paper, glass, ceramics or even metal. Using two sticks for its application, without the need for adhesives, PaperClay will turn into a beautiful piece of embossed textured art.
The competition is open to all elementary and high school students (both in public and private institutions) enroled in the current school year. The competition has three rounds: 1. Competition among DepEd Divisions from October 19 to December 31, 2009; 2. The Regional Selection from January 4 to 31, 2010; and 3. The National Selection from February 1 to 13, 2010.
Sam Concepcion says, “I usually explore my creativity through music by playing the piano or guitar or performing onstage. PaperClay Art is my newest creative outlet. It stimulates the imagination, and encourages self-expression, and quality bonding time with family members.”
For details, call (632) 502-7423, 496-8849 or 496-9100, e-mail jnbmartcafe@yahoo.com.ph or visit http://www.jnbmamazingarts.multiply.com/.

MANILA, Philippines — The devastation wrought by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng is bringing out the best in many of us, releasing an outpouring of love for the people affected by them. To express their eagerness to help, some 80 performers are coming together to raise funds for the typhoons’ victims.
The concert, “Pilipino, Kaya Natin ’To,” will be staged on Dec. 5 at the SM Mall of Asia under Rowell Santiago’s direction. The idea for a benefit concert began with talent manager, Girlie Rodis, who called on Ogie Alcasid to help gather OPM artists for a fundraising event. Rodis shares, “Ondoy destroyed houses, and Gawad Kalinga is about building homes, so we chose it to be the concert’s main beneficiary.”
For the concert, Ogie composed the song "Pilipino, Kaya Natin ’To,” which conveys a message of hope through music, as it seeks to uplift the spirits of typhoon victims. The performers may come from competing production labels and networks, but they’re bound by a common desire to help.
“Pilipino, Kaya Natin ’To,” sung by OPM Artists United, has been released as a CD single by Universal Records, in cooperation with Sony Music, MCA Universal, Warner, Star Records, Polyeast, Viva and GMA Records.
Performers
Performers include Aga Muhlach, Aiza Seguerra, Charice Pempengco, Christian Bautista, Gary Valenciano, Gino Padilla, Janno Gibbs, Jaya, Jay-R, Jed Madela, Jose Mari Chan, Jolina Magdangal, KC Concepcion, Lea Salonga, Martin Nievera, Michael V, Piolo Pascual, Rachelle Ann Go, Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, the Ryan Cayabyab Singers and Zsa Zsa Padilla.
