Will it be a bitter or sweet ending for Maddie and the rest of the staff of The Avilon?

The finale of the pan-Asian musical-cooking TV series topbilled by Karylle and Christian Bautista comes to its exciting second-part finale this Saturday, January 21, in "The Kitchen Musical" on Studio 23.

The whole restaurant is in chaos after Mr. Avilon disappeared, with grave allegations being thrown at him. This tears Maddie (Karylle) apart as questions and doubts filled her mind regarding her father's disappearance. As she searches for answers, Maddie finds out the truth behind her father's schemes and a shocking revelation about Harry (Arthur Acuna).

As if the news about Mr Avilon isn't enough, Selena (Rosemary Vanderbrouck) then reveals to Maddie and the rest of the kitchen staff that The Avilon will have a new owner with her as the new General Manager. Together with Harry, Alex (Stephen Rahman Hughes) will be kicked out of the restaurant and Daniel (Christian Bautista) re-enters the picture as the new Executive Chef.

With The Avilon's change of ownership, will its staff also undergo a change of heart? Will they take Alex or Daniel's side?

"The Kitchen Musical" first aired in the Philippines, among other Asian countries, in October and premiered via Studio 23. It was shot entirely in Singapore and was produced by The Group Entertainment.

This formally catapulted the international careers of Filipino artists Karylle, Christian, Thou Reyes, Arthur Acuna, and Ikey Canoy.

To date, "The Kitchen Musical" airs in 16 countries in Asia. TGE recently closed the deals with ABC and Casanova Multimedia, which agreed to do a local version of TKM in US and Italy respectively. The second season of the show is said to be in the works.

DIAMOND SOUL SIREN NINA RELEASES MUCH-AWAITED NEW ALBUM "STAY ALIVE"

Asia’s Diamond Soul Siren Nina is undeniably one of the most versatile recording artists of her generation, and this is highlighted in her latest album "Stay Alive," produced by Universal Records.

"Stay Alive" showcases Nina’s distinct musical style as a multi-genre artist, incorporating varieties of strong repertoire. Selections from upbeat tempo to the infusion of house-sound, mix of r&b, club and pop are very noticeable in the whole album.

“This album features a new sound but it is still distinctly Nina,” says the Soul Siren. “I have worked hard for this album, so I am really hoping that people will enjoy Stay Alive.”

The album’s carrier single "Dance" is an upbeat track with a catchy melody that will surely catch the public’s fancy, and will further prove Nina’s ability to start new music trends. Its futuristic, edgy music video shows that the Soul Siren can also be a Dance Diva.

Other upbeat tunes in the album are "I Came To Dance," "Only With You" and "Laging Ikaw."

The stirring ballad "However Much Love" is another treat to loyal Nina fans because one can hear the sensitivity and vulnerability in the singer’s voice. The said song is an early favorite among Nina’s fans. The inspirational song "Believe in the Dream" is also a standout.

Nina also composed one of the tracks in the album "You Should Know" with Keith Martin.

"I Don’t Want To Fight," "Starlight," "Missing You" are some of the ballads in the album. As a bonus, Nina’s rendition of Sharon Cuneta classic "Hagkan" is also included.

"Stay Alive" is an album very close to Nina’s heart because she was part of the entire process of the production of the album- from the conceptualization of the album and its cover, to the Paper Dolls treat inside the album, to the songs, arrangements, among others.

Noel Cabangon welcomes Holiday Season with "Panaginip" Christmas Special Edition CD

Fans of Noel Cabangon and his music are in for a treat as his hit current album "Panaginip" now includes four original Christmas tracks – "Pasko Na, Pasko Na," "Maligayang Pasko, Mahal," "Pasko ng Pagbibigayan," and "Ang Regalo Ko."

The upbeat, festive song "Pasko Na, Pasko Na," the single for this special release, talks about how joyous the celebration is for Filipino families. Meanwhile, "Maligayang Pasko, Mahal" is a romantic ditty that talks of the promise of Filipinos residing abroad of better lives for their loved ones. The two other tracks "Pasko Ng Pagbibigayan" provides inspiration for season of giving and sharing and "Ang Regalo Ko" is a lover’s dream to be loved by his/her beloved.

"Panaginip" is Noel Cabangon’s latest album featuring the title track. It also includes noteworthy original songs like collaborations with former Sugarfree frontman Ebe Dancel (“Hulog Ka ng Langit”) and Diamond Soul Siren Nina (“Ikaw Na Sana”). Other impressive new songs include the aforementioned title track “Panaginip”, as well as “Dahan Dahan”, “Bayani ng Bayan”, “Ngayon ang Bagong Simula”, the hip-hop flavored “Walang Katulad” and the haunting “Awit ng Naghahanap”, a heart-wrenching tune inspired by victims of political killings. Three longtime original songs from Noel Cabangon are also included in the album (“Sana Dumating Ka na”, “Dahil Nariyan Ka” and the '80s inspired “Umuulan sa Tag-araw, Umaaraw sa Tag-Ulan”).

Of course, the covers are still there: “Bulag, Pipi, Bingi” (Grand prize song of the 2nd Metropop Music Festival, originally performed by Freddie Aguilar), the Heber Bartolome classic “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy”, “Tag-Ulan” by Lolita & The Boys and the Pete Lacaba/Ding Achacoso-written “Sangandaan”, which gained attention from the Mike De Leon classic film "Sister Stella L".

CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA RELEASES INTERNATIONAL ALBUM "OUTBOUND"

Acknowledging Christian Bautista’s successful bid in Asia, the Asiansation is set to release his very first international album “Outbound”, released via Universal Records.

The album boasts of recordings of Christian done outside the country and his collaborations with music producers and artists from the United States, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The first single “All That’s Left” presents Christian’s new, bolder sound, and further proves that he is more than just a balladeer.

While taping for “The Kitchen Musical”, Christian never ceased to get in touch with some of the region’s movers in the music industry until he met Tat Tong, composer of “Outbound”’s first single. Tat is the composer of the anthemic “All That’s Left”.

Tat Tong
Producer, arranger, songwriter Tat Tong is responsible for more than 20 Top 10 and five #1-charting hits in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and mainland China.

His songwriting, arranging and mixing work has gone platinum and won accolades from artists and critics, including the Top 20 Songs of 2011 and the Top 10 Albums of April 2011 in the Global Chinese Music Awards. In addition, best-selling Hong Kong artist Hins Cheung [Universal Music Hong Kong] has described Tat’s production work as “nuanced and layered – the production quality is unparalleled by other contemporary productions in the market”.

Tat Tong is presently involved in mixing an official album for NBC's top-rating reality a cappella competition The Sing-Off, which will be released under Sony Music’s Epic Records in the U.S.

“Outbound” also features Tat’s three masterpieces- original songs like “Unphotographable”, “What Can I Do” and his masterful work on Christian’s cover of George Michael’s “Faith”, which is special for Christian because it is his first big solo in “The Kitchen Musical”.

Aside from Christian’s collaborations with Tat, “Outbound” gathers his noteworthy works with Grammy-nominated multi-platinum instrumentalist Jim Brickman (“Never Far Away”), the K-Pop R&B trio One Way (“Wrong Number”), Indonesian songwriter Satrio for the hit “I’m Already King”, the theme of Christian’s Indonesian movie “A Special Symphony”, and with Avex Japan's amazing Baby M for the lovely duet “Sakura”.

Baby M is a signed artist of Japan’s biggest independent recording company Avex Trax, home of J-Pop superstars like Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, Koda Kumi to name a few.
Their duet will be released in countries like Japan, South Africa, further establishing Christian’s stature as an international recording artist.

Christian and BlackBerry
Christian was pleased to showcase the new BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 smartphone and BlackBerry® PlayBook™ in the “All That’s Lef”t music video, which paired Christian with the Queen of CosPlay Alodia Gosiengfiao.

Christian is an avid BBM™ (BlackBerry® Messenger) user, most especially when he worked for four months in Singapore for “The Kitchen Musical.” So it was a natural choice for him to use BlackBerry devices for the “All That’s Left” music video featuring Queen of CosPlay Alodia Gosiengfiao. BBM, the instant messaging application for BlackBerry smartphone customers, allows users to exchange messages, photos, videos, and voice notes with their BBM contacts no matter where they are in the world. Christian can still be seen in the first Pan-Asian musical TV series “The Kitchen Musical”, which airs over at AXN (New episodes every Monday, 9:05pm) and Studio 23 (New episodes every Saturday, 7:30pm). In the series, he plays Chef Daniel, a confident sous chef in love with best friend and co-worker Chef Maddie (Karylle).

WORLD CHAMPION JED MADELA RELEASES NEW ALBUM "BREATHE AGAIN"

World Champion Jed Madela sold thousands of records reviving some of the most memorable ballads in his previous albums. Now, he is all set to fulfill his promise of recording new songs in his seventh album "Breathe Again."

“I am keeping my word, promise,” says Jed of his newest album. “It took some time because I really want to give you something exceptional and incomparable.” The album, composed primarily of beautifully-written original songs, exhibits his versatility and range as a vocalist.

“I have set a tight standard when I chose each song for this album,” he admits. “These new songs will make everyone…. Breathe Again.”

"Breathe Again" is a beautiful ballad that speaks about the different facets of love- its ups and downs, joys and pains.

When asked to describe some outstanding tracks in the album, he describes “Larawan” as something vocally-challenging, while “Ikaw Na Lang Ang Kulang” as a stirring ballad.

Jed also tries interpreting more upbeat songs as he performs "I Have You Here" and "We’re Having A Party."

Aside from the nine original songs, "Breathe Again" also gives in to requests for Jed to record some revivals. Kris Aquino asked Jed to record Fra Lippo Lippi’s "Later."

Jed also revived Lani Misalucha’s "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin," Peabo Bryson’s "If Ever You’re In My Arms Again," Barry Manilow’s "I Made It Through The Rain," and Fantasia Barrino’s "I Believe," which made Jed trend when he performed the song on ASAP Rocks.

Aside from the launch of "Breathe Again," Jed will headline a special concert "Beyond Expectations" this November 26 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines with Ballet Manila, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera as guests.

JAYA JOINS UNIVERSAL RECORDS; RELEASES "ALL SOULED OUT"

Queen of Soul Jaya goes back to basics in her latest album “All Souled Out” her first album under Universal Records. The album gathers some of the most romantic ditties interpreted in a very honest, heartfelt, and soulful manner.

“You’ll hear a different Jaya here in “All Souled Out,” declares Jaya. “You will hear songs interpreted with full of soul and devoid of screams.”

The album features 12 smooth soul classics including Patti Austin’s “Any Other Fool,” Dianne Reeves’ “Land of the Loving,” Roberta Flack’s Making Love,” Gladys Knight’s “Neither One of Us,” Aretha Franklin’s “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman,” among others.

"All Souled Out" celebrates the beautiful marriage of soul and romance, no screaming and shouting. This album’s predecessor, the Platinum-certified "Soul in Love," was rendered from a man’s point of view. In "All Souled Out," songs are interpreted from the woman’s core.

“All Souled Out” is Jaya’s debut album with Universal Records. She joins the elite roster of the label including Jose Mari Chan, Gary Valenciano, Christian Bautista, Jed Madela, Nina, Billy Crawford and fellow Party Pilipinas artists Jay R, Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid.

According to Jaya, her move to join a new label is a signal of rebirth.

Jed Madela to invade Malaysia!

World Champion Jed Madela will visit Malaysia from June 22 - 28 to promote his Bahasa duet "Antara Kita" with Malaysian artiste Nikki Palikat. "Antara Kita" is based on the Filipino hit "Kailangan Kita."

Jed and Nikki will perform live at the Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur (June 23 / 10 PM), One Borneo (June 24/7:30 PM) and Karamunsing (June 25 / 3.30 PM) at Kota Kinabalu, and the Eastern Plaza (June 26 / 3 PM) at Tawau. They will also promote together on Malaysian TV, various radio stations and malls. Watch out for them all around Malaysia!

Noel Cabangon’s new album "Panaginip" out on June 24

Universal Records is proud to present Noel Cabangon’s latest album "Panaginip" featuring the launching single of the same title. The album is the follow-up to Cabangon’s previous album and first under Universal Records “Byahe”, which stayed as the Number one album in major record stores for 17 weeks en route to being certified Platinum. Panaginip boasts of 15 tracks consisting of 4 covers and 11 original compositions of Cabangon. The album was recorded at Sound Creation with major musical arrangers Bob Aves, Fred Garcia, Ria Villena-Osorio, Simon Tan and Ito Rapadas.

The album was inspired by Sting’s performance with the Royal Philharmonic in Berlin. “People tend to know me more as an acoustic performer,” says Cabangon. “This time, this album is mostly done with a full band with orchestral arrangements.”

Why "Panaginip" as the album title? “Dahil lahat ng kanta ay nagmumula sa imahinasyon. Ang mga awit ay tula, ang mga tula ay awit. Ang mga awit ay likha ng malayang panaginip. Ang panaginip ay likha ng malayang isip,” says Cabangon. “Ang pag-iimagine ay malaya, wala naming nagbabawal sa iyo.” While it may appear that "Byahe" turned to be the biggest selling album of Cabagon’s career mainly because of the great cover songs, Cabangon bravely takes the road less traveled with an album comprised mainly of original songs.

“It’s a bit risky, kasi sa panahon ngayon ‘in’ pa rin ang covers”, says Cabangon. “Byahe" was an overwhelming success because the advantage was it had very familiar songs. But Universal Records is behind me. It is called "Panaginip" because it’s a challenge for a songwriter is for his creation to be heard. Kailangan tayo gumawa ng bagong originals. We have to move forward and write more songs. For the songs in this album hinahanap ko yung elegance ng mga hit songs. As songwriters, we need to challenge ourselves into creating a brilliant concept and to become brilliant songwriters na di natin makita sa mga new songs, walang sophistication and elegance. We should try to write lyrics that are poetic without becoming too deep. We need to challenge our listeners. Kailangan makadagdag na rin tayo to the rich anthology ng Philippine music.”

Noteworthy original songs include collaborations with former Sugarfree frontman Ebe Dancel (“Hulog Ka ng Langit”) and Diamond soul siren Nina (“Ikaw Na Sana”). Other impressive new songs include the aforementioned title track “Panaginip”, as well as “Dahan Dahan”, “Bayani ng Bayan”, “Ngayon ang Bagong Simula”, the hip-hop flavored “Walang Katulad” and the haunting “Awit ng Naghahanap”, a heart-wrenching tune inspired by victims of political killings. Three longtime original songs from Noel Cabangon are also included in the album (“Sana Dumating Ka na”, “Dahil Nariyan Ka” and the '80s inspired “Umuulan sa Tag-araw, Umaaraw sa Tag-Ulan”).

Of course, the covers are still there: “Bulag, Pipi, Bingi” (grand prize song of the 2nd Metropop Music Festival, originally performed by Freddie Aguilar), the Heber Bartolome classic “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy”, “Tag-Ulan” by Lolita & The Boys and the Pete Lacaba/Ding Achacoso-written “Sangandaan”, which gained attention from the Mike De Leon classic film "Sister Stella L".

With his new album, Noel Cabangon is once again ready to sing about us and his dreams for all of us.

“This album encapsulates my dreams for my country, my fellowmen and my friends,” says Cabangon. “It’s one big challenge to do well primarily on original songs but this is one of the challenges that is worth working hard for, para mabigyan buhay ang bayan.”

Sometimes there comes a point in time when you’ve reached your place in the scheme of things and accept yourself for what you are because amidst the criticism is the plain truth that you have exceeded expectations and have reached way beyond your wildest dreams. Such is the case with Parokya Ni Edgar. The unbeatable team of drummer Dindin Moreno, vocalist Vinci Montaner, guitarists Darius Semana and Gab Cheekee, bassist Buwi Menesses and lead vocalist Chito Miranda may just be Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers to the musical snobs but for the rest of the country they are the Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas.

Universal Records proudly announces the release of Parokya’s 8th proper album (excluding one Christmas album, one live album and one retrospective Greatest Hits album) entitled – what else? – "Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers". The album features 15 tracks, including the lead single “Paki-Usap Lang (Lasingin Nyo Ako)”, which in the tradition of one of PNE’s biggest hits “Inuman Na” is a catchy pop-rock ode to friendship and the world’s biggest pastime – beer.

The album marks the third year since the release of their previous album Solid which was followed by a heavy three years of touring not only in the country but overseas as well.

Compared with the devil-may-care attitude that guided the making of Solid, their new album is a return to the basics which gave their debut album Khangkhungkernitz the powerful appeal that still holds today. "Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers" is a return to the jokes and a return to the love songs (which the band admits Solid had little to none of). The album was produced by lead vocalist Chito Miranda.

Parokya Ni Edgar’s new album has a lot of memorable pop rock songs to offer. Opening track “Original Song” and “One Hit Combo” featuring Gloc-9 dwells on the delights of creating music and forming a band. Humor abounds in tracks such as “Orange”, the Vinci-led “Red Pants” and “Walong Baso” (a hilarious reminder for us to drink 8 glasses of water a day). PNE's rich list of hit love songs such as “Halaga” and “Harana” will surely be added on by the promising love songs in MAJNPR: the K-Pop parody “Pangarap Lang Kita” featuring Happee Sy and the heartbreaking acoustic number “Ok Lang Ako”. Another noteworthy track in the album is the tender acoustic ditty “Lolo Bye”, written by guitarist Darius Semana.

Koreaboo | G-Dragon is preparing for his next solo album?

In August of 2009, G-Dragon released his first studio album, "Heartbreaker." The album consisted of ten songs, with the lyrics written entirely by G-Dragon himself, except for the song, "The Leaders," which was a collaboration track between G-Dragon, Teddy, and CL (2NE1).

Almost two years later, G-Dragon shared in a magazine interview his thoughts on the album, "Heartbreaker," and his plans for the future. G-Dragon participated in an interview with "Fans World" 2011 No. 10 Magazine.

Question: Over two years ago, you released "Heartbreaker." You said, "I'm not an idol, but a symbol." Now, looking at Big Bang's concepts, it looks like you're trying to break the "idol image."

G-Dragon: The views people had of us within out two year and three month hiatus changed. During that period, I think that "idols" changed to a term that is now used for younger idols. We are all getting older, and it is kind of embarrassing for us to still be called "idols." Maybe it is time that we were called "musicians" instead of "idols."

Question: Your first album, "Heartbreaker," had a lot of controversies that surrounded it. What is your response to that?

G-Dragon: One day while driving, I played the entire album one more time. I felt guilty about it. I was really confident then that albums to me were like my diary. When I became sixty or seventy years old, I would be able to listen to it an know what I was thinking about and who I loved during that time period from the lyrics I wrote. Now I find that the idea of using my diary for an album concept was too impulsive. I could have done better with it if it wasn't so impulsive of a concept. Currently, I am preparing for my next solo album. If the production goes quickly, it will be released by next year!

Are you looking forward to G-Dragon's upcoming solo album later this year or early next year?

Koreaboo | f(x) performs "Hot Summer" on Music Core

After returning from SM Town Live in Paris, the girls of f(x) are continuing their promotions. f(x) recently released a repackaged album with the title track, "Hot Summer," which is actually another remade song.

The girls of f(x) teased fans through their own Facebook account and also with pictures and even a music video teaser. Last night, SM Entertainment released the music video for "Hot Summer" just moments before their first live performance of the track last night on Music Bank.

Tonight, f(x) returned to the Music Core stage to perform their second follow up performance of "Hot Summer."
